Airway Heights Water Reclamation Plant, Phase 1B

Project Summary

This innovative project is the first facility in Washington State to treat wastewater to Class A-plus water reclamation and reuse standards and replenish crucial groundwater supplies by infiltrating effluent water into the local drinking water supply. The facility significantly reduces the demand on groundwater sources and eliminates a source of pollution to the Spokane River. This reclamation plant also provides for the reuse of the Class A water at the Correctional Facility and Spokane County Race Facility.

The scope of work included construction of a new headworks facility, anaerobic and aeration basins, two 75-foot diameter clarifiers, a dewatering facility, a $3 Million pressurized membrane system, and 15,000 lineal feet of off-site force main which required the removal of 10,000 cubic yards of rock using blasting techniques.
