Pocatello Creek Booster Station
Project Summary
The project includes the construction of a new booster pump station and 12,000 lineal feet of waterline ranging from 24 inches to 30 inches in diameter, as well as a booster station with three 3,300-horsepower pumps, each with a capacity of 2,000 gallons of water per minute. The booster station will also have a spare pumpcan for a future fourth booster pump, pressure tanks for surge mitigation for the suction and discharge lines, and an external emergency generator. The pipeline will be a mix of HDPE and DIP and will require several trenchless crossings of Pocatello Creek and Interstate-15, but will not disturb pavement. The pipeline will include isolation valves and combination air relief valves.
The extra capacity is needed due to rapid growth throughout the Highland Bench, including the Summit, Satterfield, and Northgate areas. The project will offer system redundancy to that area of the city, making the area less vulnerable in the event of an operational failure.
