Maple Road and Ash Way Intersection and Drainage Improvements

Project Summary

Snohomish County and the City of Lynnwood worked together to help ease flooding in the vicinity of the Maple Road and Ash Way/Interurban Trail intersection. Flooding events originating from Swamp Creek, forced multiple intersection closures per year at this congested urban intersection.

The project reconstructed approximately 700 feet of Maple Road and 600 feet of Ash Way using structural slabs on top of steel beams. The new intersection was raised roughly five feet from its original elevation and six inches above the 25-year flood elevation of Swamp Creek.

New fish-passable culverts were installed on Maple Road and Ash Way and the Interurban Trail at the intersection was paved and widened.
