Tacoma Sewer Utility Replacement Design, Planning, & Construction
Collaboration with the City to solve historic flooding challenges in downtown through progressive design build collaboration

IMCO Construction and designer Carollo are partnering to replace sewer utilities for the City of Tacoma, performing preconstruction services, evaluating options to determine the best alignment for new large-diameter pipe and a strategy for the re-use of existing pipeline infrastructure at Puyallup Avenue. Previous utility system modifications and aging infrastructure have caused on-going issues for residents and commuters in Tacoma’s downtown Dome District. These upgrades will alleviate flooding, improve utility sustainability, and deliver improvements that represent the best value to the community.
The team is working with the City and community stakeholders to solve historical flooding issues while minimizing construction impacts on residents, businesses, and commuters. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026 on the Puyallup Avenue Sewer Utility Replacement project.
