Oso Landslide SR 530 Clearing

Supporting a community through tragedy, managing a complex remediation effort

Following the catastrophic Oso, WA landslide that covered a mile of the roadway in Northwest Washington, IMCO crews worked around the clock to complete this contract for WSDOT. The scope included the very careful removal of debris, erosion and water pollution control, and slope stabilization along State Route 530. This contract project was completed a week ahead of the very tight scheduling requirements, and IMCO Construction helped save WSDOT 47% of the original contract value.

This project was honored with numerous awards, including an ENR Project of the Year and the AGC of Washington’s Grand Award for Construction Excellence. The IMCO team supported the community through multiple contracts associated with this event. Work associated with the Oso landslide was highly sensitive and had a great deal of public attention as the surrounding community grieved.
