EVERETT — Imco General Construction is beginning work on a $2.55 million upgrade at the Port of Everett's South Terminal.
The work will strengthen the 40-year-old wharf, doubling its work load capacity from 500 pounds per square foot to 1,000 pounds per square foot.
Work is expected to finish in May.
The port said it is also working to develop its rail infrastructure. Over the next couple of years the port plans to spend $10.2 million for rail upgrades, including new track.
