Raise A Village: IMCO Donates Materials, Employees Volunteer Labor
From IMCO's the DIRT Newsletter, Spring 2013
On Saturday March 16th, a group of over 100 volunteers, including IMCO employees and their families, braved the cloudy and sporadically rainy weather to support a new Housing Hope project at Woods Creek Village in Monroe, Washington. Housing Hope is a local Snohomish County organization that supports homeless and low-income families by providing affordable housing and support services. Their latest project, the Woods Creek Village Expansion Project, Phase 2 was one that Todd Pike and Meg Winch from Communication Resources NW decided to take action on. They gathered volunteers to participate in the “Raise A Village” volunteer day. As IMCO’s Everett Water Pollution Control Facility Project is getting underway, this was a great way for IMCO personnel to get involved in supporting the surrounding community, something IMCO tries to do in their community. Over 30 volunteers from IMCO (including employees, spouses, and families) participated by helping plant trees, flowers, and bushes, and by installing planter boxes, and moving topsoil. The IMCO team built a large mailbox and entrance sign for the housing complex and constructed a garbage and recycling center and a brand new playground structure in the open space behind the housing facility. Lunch was provided for all volunteers and everyone came out with a great attitude in support of this excellent cause. Thank you to all who participated and those who continue to support this program throughout the year.
“My family and I had a great time working with the IMCO team on the Housing Hope Volunteer Day. We were grateful for the opportunity to give back to a community that we have been working in for a long time. We jest that we can do anything we can bill for, but after seeing the effort the IMCO Team put into the Housing Hope Volunteer Day, it is evident this team puts a lot of heart and pride in everything they do!” - CJ Handforth
“Not only was it awesome to see the IMCO turnout, I couldn’t believe how far some traveled to lend a hand. The entire Pike and Chatterton families came from the eastside to help out. It was unbelievable! Their kiddos worked just as long and hard as the adults; Impressive.” – Kathryn Blair
