Project Summary

This project constructed a new 8 MGD water treatment plant for the City of Lynden and improved treatment processes used at the City’s existing plant and increased capacity that now complies with current regulations and allows for future growth. The contract included construction of new headworks with grit removal, dewatering room, rapid mix, flocculation and sedimentation basins, dual-media deep-bed filters, UV disinfection, clearwell, finished water pumping, backwash water equalization tank and sludge thickener. The contract included reinforced concrete, miscellaneous metals, masonry, process mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, site works and new access to the plant including asphalt paving, concrete sidewalk and gutter, and related work in the right-of-way.

The project achieved substantial completion in Fall 2015 after two years of construction.  The project team was recognized at a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 16th with various agencies who helped fund, design and build the project in attendance.
