HOLDEN MINE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

This project included construction of a new water treatment facility at the site of an abandoned copper mine in remote North Central Washington, near Lake Chelan. IMCO's client, a global mining company, is responsible for the cleanup of the mine that was acquired in 2007. Holden Mine has not been an operational mine since the late 1950’s.                 

The project is part of a larger $200+ million effort to remediate past environmental problems at the mine. IMCO crews were evacuated during the Wolverine fire, a massive wildfire which threatened the site and halted work for 6 weeks over the summer of 2015. The project was extended into the winter months where crews were battling harsh weather conditions and significant snowfall due to an aggressive completion schedule for this project. All equipment and materials were barged from the City of Chelan, up the lake, to this very remote site near Holden Village, where project personnel stayed during construction.  

Upon project completion, IMCO was hired by to operate the plant 24 hours a day on a multi-year contract.
