IMCO Construction, a premier civil contractor for the Northwest, and Stantec, the lead design partner and global consulting and engineering firm, celebrate the groundbreaking of the Mountain Home Air Force Base (MHAFB) Water Resilience Project with members of the community, Idaho Water Resource Board (IWRB), the Air Force, and the Governor’s office. The project will provide a reliable water source that meets the demands of the MHAFB and delivers long-term water reliability.

The IWRB provides water to one of Idaho's significant economic drivers, the MHAFB. The IWRB is constructing a water inlet, pump station, and transmission pipeline to bring Snake River water from CJ Strike Reservoir to MHAFB. On behalf of the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is procuring construction of a new water treatment plant to receive the surface water supplied by theState of Idaho.

IMCO and Stantec are working together to provide engineering design, construction, and construction oversight for a water intake, pump station, and 14.4-mile pipeline to provide raw water to MHAFB. The design-build team is a leader in these specialized facilities, combining IMCO’s construction experience—including a long history of self-performing pipeline installations for water transmission and distribution—with Stantec’s history of designing innovative and diverse water supply projects.

“IMCO and Stantec are excited to be part of such a significant project for the State of Idaho and the MHAFB,” said Michael Fuss, senior principal and practice leader at Stantec. “The groundbreaking for the MHAFB Water Resilience Project is a monumental step in helping the State of Idaho and the federal government meet ambitious water supply goals. We are thrilled to see this project come to life.”

The IWRB will oversee the financing, design, construction, and maintenance plans to bring the project to fruition. House Bill 769, passed by the 2022 Idaho Legislature, appropriated $100 million from American Rescue Plan Act State Fiscal Recovery Funds to support this project.

“We are incredibly proud to be contributing to bringing improved water supply to Idaho and the Mountain Home Air Force Base. Providing water infrastructure is critical to supporting healthy communities and is core to who we are,” said IMCO Construction Project Manager Todd Pike.
