Albeni Falls Dam Spillway Dam Improvements
Coordination with USACE to improve winter dam operations
This project made improvements to the spillway gates at the Albeni Falls dam for improved operations in sub-zero winter weather. IMCO crews removed 10 spillway gates, replaced the seals with an anti-frees bulb, and installed a de-icing spray system for the gears. The bubbler system was also upgraded with new diffusers, piping, and electrical.
Project challenges included site access during extreme winter conditions, coordination construction activities with dam operation needs, dewatering, and safely working at heights over 60 feet.
