Project Summary

Douglas County PUD has contracted IMCO to build Washington State’s first large-scale hydrogen production facility which will use water and power from the Wells Dam facility to produce hydrogen through an electrolysis process. Hydrogen does not emit carbon and is considered by many to be the energy source of the future. This contract includes construction of a pre-cast tilt-up building, a large mechanical scope, and the installation of hydrogen producing equipment. Production of hydrogen is scheduled to begin in June 2024, followoing completion of this facility.

Project Highlights

Douglas County PUD owns the dams that will provide the power required to produce hydrogen. Upon completion of this project they will be the first PUD in Washington State to produce hydrogen.
